Irish Draught History

The Irish Draught has evolved from ancient history as a horse used in  battle and agriculture.
In the first world war their strength, stamina, agility and last but no means least their temperaments took them to europe in there thousands to serve on the front lines as mounted and artillery horses.

However the Irish Draught as we know it  today has evolved over a century of selection and produced a warmblood breed with good bone, quality and substance and a movement that is light and free. They have a very willing and calm temperament, making them very versatile.

The Irish Draught would have lived with a farming family and worked on the land during the week, been fast and agile enough to take his farmer hunting on Saturday and pulled the carriage in style to church on Sundays.
